New Home Designs: Case Study
Exactus Homes had the pleasure of building an impressive tri-level home in City Beach designed by Adrian Price Architect. In something different for the Perth market, the home employed timber framed construction, with innovative cladding to complete the contemporary design.
The vision was created by Adrian Price Architect, who created a design which optimised the views over the neighbouring parkland and golf course. Working in collaboration with Ralph Brewer of Exacts Homes, the new home design was carefully adjusted over the course of several meetings to meet the budget and requirements of the family.

Construction begins Feb 2014: The commencement of construction of the new home is a very exciting day!
The steel beams for the second storey are carefully put in place with the close supervision of Exactus Homes Registered Builder, Ralph Brewer.
Construction of a timber frame new home happens very quickly, as frames can be put in place in a matter of days. As there is no time to wait for the brickwork to dry, construction work can quickly evolve to the next stage.
The structure of the new home is beginning to take shape, with the major steel beams and timber structures in place.
The lower structure shows the brick veneer element of the home. The bricks are placed alongside the timber frame, and then the final finish is rendered.
In the next stage, windows are installed and plasterboard is affixed to the timber frame walls. With no need to wait for plaster to dry, as wet render needs to do in a double brick home, other work such as carpentry and tiling can continue immediately.
With walls and cladding almost complete, windows are installed in the new home.
Fast forward to the completion of the finished new home! With the assistance of our dedicated and skilled tradespeople, the final home is a credit to the team.
The modern feature cladding provides a clean, contemporary finish to the home.
The construction method is imperceptible when viewing the finished product, but has a very positive impact on the environmental performance of the home.
Despite the enormous amount of windows in the home, an impressively high energy rating was able to be achieved through the application of insulation in the timber frame cavity and energy-efficient cladding products. Not only does the new home look good, but the ongoing running costs are lower than a double brick home that achieves poor energy efficiency.
